Dussehra, one of the most significant Hindu festivals of India, was celebrated with a lot of zest and enthusiasm at Modern Early Years, Vasundhara. Students portrayed impressive acts related to the two important legends associated with the celebration of the festival ,the story of Lord Ram and Goddess Durga… The proceedings started with a poem recited by Siraaj Singh of class P1 elaborating on the reason of the celebration…
मम्मी से यों बोला मुन्ना, मुझको सच सच बतला,
क्यों आता हर वर्ष दशहरा, क्या जाता है सिखला ?
This was followed by a dance-drama enacted by the students of classes KG, P1 and P2 depicting the story of Ramayna. The contrast between the humble, caring, and disciplined personality of Lord Rama and the arrogant and ignorant nature of Ravana was explicitly depicted teaching students how the good triumphs every time over evil. Monika (KG-A) & Naitik (KG-B) spoke about the Durga Puja celebration in West Bengal.
The second episode showed the battle of Goddess Durga with the deceptive and powerful buffalo demon Mahishasur followed by a brilliantly choreographed classical dance giving the audience the flavour of Durga Puja.
The presentation was aptly supplemented by a vivid power point presentation, prepared by Ms Sweta Khattar
The proceedings concluded with the words by the Branch Head Ms. Manju Mehra inspiring the students to walk on the path of honesty, righteousness, obedience & helpfulness and the Dussehra message:
जो नफ़रत फैलता, उसका हाल यही होता है I
कांटें ही कांटें पाएगा, जो बबूल बोता है II
Kudos for the joint effort of the Master of ceremonies Ms Shilpi Lalchandani and the trio Ms Diksha Ummet, Ms Ashima Mehra and Ms Akshma Gaur for a colourful and an impressive show in the true Modern spirit.
