On 1st October, 2021 a special virtual assembly on ‘Gandhi Jayanti’ was conducted by the students of the Modern School Gzb . Gandhi Jayanti is not only celebrated as the National festival of India on 2nd October but is also celebrated as the ‘International Day of Non – Violence.’
The programme commenced with a mesmerising Gandhiji’s favourite Bhajan ‘Vaishnava Jan to Tene Kahiye’ followed by inspiring thoughts presented by Yedant Varun (P3V) and Yash Singhal (P4V) respectively. Prashansa the student of P-5 narrated important events from the life of Mahatma Gandhi in her speech, whereas Shivika Oberoi(P3V) and Madhav Mehra (P4V) recited poems in English and Hindi respectively. Ananya Verma(P5) and Atharv Dabas (P5) shared important incidents from the Life of Mohan Das Karamchand Gandhi, as a result of which his life was transformed and he emerged as a ray of hope giving new direction to the struggle for Independence in the year 1915 . Mrs Charu Verma in her Presentation threw light on the other Milestones like the Dandi March, Quit India Movement and the Independence of India emphasising on Gandhi ji ‘s non -violent approach and tactics of non cooperation and peaceful resistance.
2nd October not only marks the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi but is also the birthday of ‘Shri Lal Bahadur Shastriji’ the second Prime Minister of India who was the epitome of honesty and humility and gave his famous slogan of ‘Jai Jawan , Jai Kisaan’. To pay tribute and honour to both these great leaders,Vranda Tyagi(P5) recited a poem in Hindi which was followed by a famous Bhajan ‘ Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram’ presented by Paridhi , Raghav, Shreyash , Mishika and Shreya the students of P-4A and a dance performance by Hashmita Tyagi of P-4A.The Programme concluded with a motivational address by the School Principal , Mrs Manju Mehra , applauding the participants for their enthusiastic performance .
