Lit Fun: Poetry Recitation Competition

Our Lit Fun is a legacy from Modern School  Vasundhara days!
We are delighted to carry on this initiative with customised events suitable for different age groups.
Poetry and Recitation are both fine skills requiring imagination, creativity, linguistic skills and sensitivity.
To get our youngest students to be a part of this poetry recitation is our endeavour to
Empower , Enable , Encourage and Energise towards these beautiful soft skills which will add confidence and creativity to their life.
The Modern School , Ghaziabad hosted an inter-school Poetry Recitation competition, Lit Fun - 2022.
Our Judges for the day -
Ms. Sonal Bedi passionate about teaching sincerely wants to make a positive difference in the lives of young people & has spent over two decades in this noble profession. Mr. Firoz Bakht Ahmed is a renowned scholar and the former Chancellor of the Maulana Azad National Urdu University .He's also a trilingual columnist who writes in English, Hindi, and Urdu. He has authored a considerable number of columns for major Indian and international media and written books in his mother tongue .
The contest was held on a grand scale, with 27 schools contending and showcasing their oratorical skills .
The competition was divided into two main categories:  All the grades featured distinct topics. 
Grade 1 - Nature
Grade 2 - Humour
Grade 3 - Inspirational Poem
Grade 4 - Story Poem with a Moral
The event began with the lighting of the lamp and the greeting of the guests. The proceedings commenced with the competitors being briefed on the regulations and judging criteria. The participants thereafter connected using their respective links.
The pupils did their best to recite their poetry to the best of their abilities. Students  from The Modern School demonstrated their singing talent during the Social hour while the Judges compiled the results and the following are the outcomes:

Overall Result:
The scores in all of the categories, i.e. Cat. A and Cat. B, were compiled for the overall result.
The Modern School, Gzb took the leading position with a score of 144 out of 160, while the Modern School, Vasant Vihar were declared the Runner- up with a score of 142 out of 160. However, The Modern School,Gzb being the host team passed this award to the runner-up school.
The programme was overseen by Ms. Manju Mehra, Principal and was  coordinated by Ms. Swati Jain  Ms. Deepti Shukla ably assisted by Ms Shilpi Lalchandani .The program was taken ahead by Ms. Sony and Master Vihaan (student) for Category A and Master Jatin (student) and Ms. Shubhi. in category B, who was also the master of ceremonies for today’s program. The Judges praised the students' performances 
and applauded the efficient & meticulous planning of the Organisers ! Three cheers for Modern !

 

Performing Arts: Music & Dance

Performing Art Competitions are fun & whether you win or lose there is always a lot to learn ! Other than motivating students to perform & excel they provide opportunities to showcase talent , provide experience , become self -assured & understand that if you want something worthwhile you have to work hard for it .
Our Judges 
Dance Competition -Alumunus of Modern School Barakhamba Road, New Delhi , Ms Kumar is a passionate dancer .She learnt classical dance with Mr. Arindam Dasgupta in Modern School, and then learnt Jazz dancing from Ashley Lobo. 
For the last 16 years she has been a sports anchor and sports producer. Ragini works for Star Sports as an Executive Producer.
 Music Competition- Mr Jitender Singh is an established Ghazal Artist, Music Director, Composer, associated with Ballets, Dance Dramas & Plays at reputed Schools such as Modern School Barakhamba & Mata Jaikaur Public School, Ashok Vihar.
17 prestigious Schools of Gzb , Noida & Faridabad contested . Recorded Videos of the entries received were sent to the Judges.
We appreciate the efforts of the Participating Schools & the Organising Team in making this Event successful.

    REPUBLIC DAY CELEBRATION


    'We are Indians, firstly & lastly’ - B.R. Ambedkar 
    A befitting cultural programme was presented today by The Modern School, Ghaziabad to commemorate this year's Republic Day. Unlike the preceding years, the Organisers  implemented the programme virtually in order to demonstrate their patriotism.
     Ms. Renu Dhaiya scripted & spearheaded the programme. She greeted the Principal, the teachers, and the students. Subsequently, the programme was led by Master Vihaan Roy, who is blossoming into an amazing narrator. Kushagra Bharadawaj from S1 initiated briefing the audience on his views on the Indian Constitution. P3's Aadya Mishra captivated the audience with her wonderful Bharatnatyam steps. Everyone was enthralled by her dance moves.

    Every Citizen of the country has a culpability to their country. Devesh from S5 stood up to concise and reminded the viewers of their obligations to the nation. Furthermore, the exceptionally talented trio – Maitreyei, Hemang, and Abaan – displayed their patriotism through vivid poetry.
    Students expressed their gratitude and appreciation to the country. S1's Naman and Nischay performed an energetic dance .
    Aryan from S3 and Anushree from S1 briefed the audience about the country's beauty. They admired India's versatility and made everyone realise how fortunate we seem to be to live in such a glorious country. Khadija (P2), Aadrik (P2), Aditya, and Gyaansh (P3) also shared their opinions and voiced their heartfelt love for the country in diverse languages, including Hindi, Bengali, Punjabi, and Sanskrit. Yedhant (P3), Saujas (P4), Paridhi (P4) and Shaurya (P4) put forth a heart touching presentation, preceded by a lovely demonstration of different states .
    The Gujarat state presentation was given by Hasmitha Tyagi (P4), who presented a praiseworthy Garba .Briti Srivastava (P5) astounded the audience with her beautiful presentation on Rajasthani dance and portrayed the beauty of Rajasthan. Ansh and Anshika's dance, which was really mind blowing showcased the beauty of Goa. Yuvika Rastogi (P5) presented the beauty of Kashmir, subtitled "Heaven on Earth" . Samridhi (P4) captivated the audience with her Kathak steps, and Mishika (P4) performed Lavani, which was well received by all. The tykes of The Modern School, however, rose to the occasion as citizens of India from various states. The shining stars were as follows:

    Ms. Manju Mehra, Principal,  presented the Republic Day Address-
    ‘Pride in our souls, Strength in our words, Freedom in our minds, Purity in our blood and Zeal in our hearts..... 
    Republic Day marks the celebration of the empowerment of Indian citizens to select their own government. It commemorates the establishment of the Indian Constitution on 26th January 1950.
    Republic Day must instill passion in our youngsters. Students of today are the future of our nation.
     To be citizens of the Indian republic, with a robust constitution which celebrates the rule of law and civil liberties is a blessing for every Indian.
    Close your eyes for a minute and imagine the millions who fought for a republic nation and the hundreds who debated every clause and sub clause before finally giving the people of the nation, a constitution ‘of the people, by the people, for the people'.
    She  appreciated the programme and incentivized the children to come up and present themselves. She praised the performers  and teachers who had worked hard to present the programme on a virtual platform. She concluded her message with a Hindi poem to inspire the students to keep moving forward, with hard work, grit & determination titled ‘Badhe Chalo'!
